Window is a free weather, haze and storm service for Singapore at window.zentiahome.com and on Telegram as @WindowSingaporeBot. It is operated by Zentia Home Pte. Ltd. (“Zentia Home”, “we”), a company registered in Singapore. We follow the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
The short version: Window works without an account. We keep the least we can: a place to forecast for, rounded so it isn't your address, and on Telegram your chat so we can send alerts. We don't sell data, show ads or track you across other sites.
What we collect
On the website
- The place you look at. When you use your location, your browser shares it with the page; the page rounds it to about 110 m before asking our servers for the forecast. We don't store it. The website remembers the area you chose (not your coordinates) in your browser's own storage, on your device only.
- Technical details of each request, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes to deliver and protect the service. Our request logs are kept for up to 7 days.
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising or cross-site tracking.
On Telegram
- Your chat ID, so we can reply and send alerts.
- The place you follow: an NEA forecast area you name, or a location you share, which we round to about 1 km as soon as it arrives and never store exactly.
- Your settings (mute, quiet hours) and which alerts we've already sent you, so you aren't told the same thing twice.
- A log of the alerts we sent you (type, title and time), to check the alerts are useful. It is deleted after 90 days.
Messages pass through Telegram, which handles them under its own privacy policy.
What we use it for
- To show the weather, storms and haze for your place, and to send the alerts you asked for.
- To keep the service running and secure, and to fix problems.
- To check that alerts are accurate and not too frequent.
Zentia Home products. Window doesn't promote Zentia Home's smart home products today. If it ever suggests them, for example a sensor that would make an alert more accurate for your home, it will only be after you've opted in with a box that starts unticked, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal data. It is handled by:
- Cloudflare, which hosts Window and stores its data, in Singapore and in other countries where it operates;
- Telegram, for messages on Telegram;
- authorities, where the law requires it.
Our weather sources (NEA via data.gov.sg, and MET Norway) never receive anything about you: our servers fetch their data for all of Singapore and work out each place themselves.
Where data is processed outside Singapore, we rely on our providers' contractual safeguards to give it protection comparable to the PDPA.
How long we keep it
- Telegram chat, place and settings: until you send /stop or block the bot.
- Telegram alert log: 90 days.
- Request logs: up to 7 days.
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything on Telegram: send
/stop. We delete your chat, place, settings and alert history straight away. Blocking the bot does the same the next time we try to message you. - On the website, clear your browser's site data to forget the area you chose.
- Under the PDPA you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
Children
Window is a general weather service and isn't aimed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, such as collecting something new, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell Telegram followers before it takes effect.
